ARTIST INFO

Asher Herzog (b.1995) is a drummer, improvisor, composer, and educator from Baltimore Maryland. His primary musical interest is in the intersection of composition and improvisation. 

As a recent graduate of Towson University with a degree in Jazz Performance he has had the opportunity to partake in prolonged study with Frank Russo, Dave Ballou, Jim McFalls, Thomas Ciufo, and Jason Rigby. He has also taken lessons with Tim Berne, Ches Smith, Kris Davis, Gerald Cleaver, and Tom Rainey. Other educational opportunities include being accepted into and participating in the School of Improvisational Music Summer 2017 workshop. 

Herzog is the leader of his sextet Bowhunter, as well co-leader of the Baltimore improvisation collective Creative Music Consortium with trombonist Nicole Connelly. Collaborative projects include improvising rock quartet Fuss and Post-Rock Band Yugennui.
